Aba residents are raising serious concerns over alleged excessive land rent charges amounting to ₦1,185,000, a situation they describe as both exploitative and insensitive.

According to multiple residents, the Ministry of Lands in Aba South has gone as far as sealing hospitals out of sheer greed, without considering the dire implications for patients who require constant access to medical care.

The distress extends to residential buildings locked so tightly that occupants—including schoolchildren—are forced to climb out with ladders just to go about their daily activities.

Despite the gravity of these complaints, the government has yet to issue any response, leaving the very people it pledged to protect feeling abandoned.

The local government has reportedly ignored the outcry entirely, worsening frustrations across Aba.

Meanwhile, the Aba Landlord Association says it is embarrassed and deeply disappointed by the attitude of revenue collectors, who appear to prioritize aggressive revenue-driving tactics over the welfare and dignity of Aba residents.
