Peter Mbah: Enugu Air Will Acquire 14 More Aircraft In 2026, Bringing Total Fleet To 20

Governor Peter Mbah on Tuesday unveiled major aviation and transport plans during his 2026 budget presentation, outlining an ambitious expansion of Enugu State’s air and land mobility assets.

Addressing lawmakers, Mbah said improved mobility remained central to his administration’s economic strategy, stressing that “transportation is a lifeblood of commerce. Without efficient mobility, no economy can thrive.”

He announced that Enugu Air, the state-backed airline, would undergo a significant fleet upgrade in 2026 through the acquisition of 14 additional aircraft, raising its total fleet to 20.

According to him, the state currently operates six aircraft: “As you know, we procured three aircraft earlier in the year (2025). We have already closed the procurement of additional three due to arrive any moment from now, but certainly before Christmas. So we currently have six aircraft.”

Mbah said the 2026 procurement drive would complete the expansion sequence. “Next year, we will acquire an additional 14 aircraft… that would bring our total fleet to 20,” he told the Assembly.

The governor noted that Enugu Air had become both “an economic enabler and a strategic platform for our emergence as a regional hub.”

Beyond aviation, he also detailed plans to strengthen the state’s road transport system, including the construction of five new transport terminals, as well as the procurement of 2,000 sedans for city taxi operations.

Mbah concluded by hinting that the expanded air and transport infrastructure would bolster Enugu’s growing transportation ambitions.

Just In: SMART SCHOOL OR SMART LOOTING? ANOTHER RECEIPT FROM IGBERE

This image is Elu-Okwe Primary School in Amaukwu Igbere, Bende LGA—a living, breathing school, not a rumour or propaganda. Yet the Abia State Government claimed it was demolished because it had been awarded for upgrade to a smart school. Today, no smart school exists. The roof is failing, classrooms leak, and pupils still run for cover whenever it rains. Despite community appeals for urgent renovation, intervention was halted on the grounds that the project had been “awarded.” Months later, nothing has happened. This raises serious questions about the state’s claim of spending ₦100 billion on public school repairs. Smart schools do not disappear, and infrastructure does not exist only on paper. Abia people are no longer asking for explanations—they are demanding results. Where are the smart schools?

Just In: Press Release From the Office of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives

The Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives has dismissed as false and misleading the Abia State Government’s claims concerning infrastructure projects attracted by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu. The office clarified that the land along the Umuahia–Bende Road was communally donated, not allocated by the state government, and described allegations of unauthorized demolition of school facilities as baseless. It further accused the Otti administration of deliberate propaganda aimed at undermining genuine development efforts, while reaffirming the Deputy Speaker’s commitment to attracting critical infrastructure to Abia State in the interest of the people.
