House Asks WAEC To Suspend 2026 CBT Transition Plans

The House of Representatives has asked the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to suspend its plans to transition to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

A lawmaker, Kelechi Nwogu, raised the concern as a matter of urgent national importance during plenary on Thursday.

The House expressed concern about the outcry from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and public schools in rural areas over the lack of electricity and non-functional computers.

They therefore asked WAEC to suspend its CBT plans with immediate effect, calling for the recruitment of computer teachers in public schools.
