Abia 2027: Support Grows for Benjamin Kalu Governorship Bid

Hon. Abraham U. Oba, KSJI, a distinguished two-term member of the Abia State House of Assembly and former Minority Leader of the 6th and 7th Assembly and Ndi Uwaoma Movement, have thrown their weight behind the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, in his anticipated bid for the Abia State governorship race in 2027. Fondly known as Onye Uwaoma, Hon. Oba described Kalu as a visionary leader whose track record at the national level reflects competence, unity, and a deep commitment to the progress of Abia State.

According to Hon. Oba, Rt. Hon. Kalu’s leadership qualities were clearly demonstrated in his role in unifying the Abia All Progressives Congress (APC) during the recently concluded party congresses. He emphasized that such political maturity and strategic coordination are critical ingredients needed to reposition Abia for sustainable growth.

He further noted that Kalu’s emergence would not only strengthen party cohesion but also inspire confidence among the people, fostering a renewed sense of belonging across all segments of the state.

Hon. Oba expressed optimism that a Kalu-led administration would usher in transparency, inclusivity, and people-oriented governance, ensuring that the dividends of democracy are felt at the grassroots. He contrasted this vision with what he described as the current governance experience in the state, stressing the urgent need for a leadership style that prioritizes accountability and equitable development.
