Uba Sani Denies Being Under El-Rufai’s Political Tutelage
Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, has dismissed suggestions that he was under the political tutelage of his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, insisting that his guiding lights remained President Bola Tinubu and the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
Muslim faithful across Nigeria have celebrated Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with large gatherings in major cities such as Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Maiduguri. Worshippers thronged designated prayer grounds to observe special Eid prayers, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings after a month of fasting and devotion. In their sermons, religious leaders emphasized the importance of peace, compassion, and social responsibility, urging both leaders and citizens to uphold unity and contribute to national development. The celebrations were also marked by messages of goodwill and reflections on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan. President Bola Tinubu, in his Sallah message, encouraged Muslims to sustain the values of piety, kindness, and selflessness beyond the fasting period. Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima called for national unity, noting that shared religious observances should strengthen bonds among Nigerians. Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, deployed personnel nationwide to ensure safety at prayer grounds and public spaces. The heightened security presence, along with patrols and surveillance operations, helped maintain order as citizens marked the festive occasion peacefully.
Kashim Shettima has expressed confidence that insecurity in Nigeria will soon be contained, urging citizens to embrace unity and collective action. Speaking after Eid al-Fitr prayers in Maiduguri, he emphasized that national progress depends on peace and commended the resilience of the people of Borno State.
Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu joined colleagues in the National Assembly to support Nnolim Nnaji during the burial of his mother, Mrs. Monica Nnenna Nnaji. He described the late matriarch as a strong and graceful woman who raised her children to prominence despite early widowhood, and prayed for strength and comfort for the family.
