Press Statement For Immediate Release

Governor Otti's Sealing of RHP Office, Umuahia, Desperation Taken Too Far

We, the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), are shocked and dismayed by the sudden and unjustified sealing of our Abia State Office at No. 36 Ojike Lane, Umuahia by the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti on November 25, 2025

This brazen move by Governor Alex Otti is a clear example of desperation taken too far and an attack on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The property in question was completely a shadow of itself as it was abandoned in a dilapidated state for over 30 years before we renovated it to make it the South East Regional Headquarters of the Renewed Hope Partners convened by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR, to disseminate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President across the nation, especially the South East region.

We moved into the building in June, 2025 after an extensive renovation of the facility. One wonders why the the various taxes or notifications were not sent to owners of the property before the Renewed Hope Partners took over.

It is telling that Governor Otti would choose to target the office, which serves as a meeting point for all the evangelists of Renewed Hope Agenda message of Mr. President simply because it is associated with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR who also represents Bende Federal Constituency of the State.

It is pertinent to note that the Renewed Hope Partners already has offices across the 184 wards of Abia State. So, how many more of these offices is the Governor going to target?

It is also important to note that this same government made attempts to stop the inauguration of Local Government Executives of Renewed Hope Partners in Osisioma and Obingwa Local Government Areas of Abia but for the immediate intervention of the security agencies who eventually took charge to ensure the programmes held.

Specifically, in Obingwa Local Government Area, every effort was made by the Council Chairman, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike to scuttle the inauguration by physically appearing at the Catholic Primary School, Itu Ngwa as sent by the governor to ensure the event never held.

The threat is all over the State that no venue is allowed to be used by RHP, but we wonder if Alex Otti is running for President against President Tinubu.

We recall that just two weeks ago, the governor revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) of Abia Hotels, Umuahia, a facility that hosted an RHP event in October. This latest move is a clear case of political vendetta and an attempt to undermine the efforts of the Renewed Hope Partners.

We question the timing and motivations behind the sealing of the office, and we demand an explanation from the governor. Why was notice not given to us?

It is very conspicuous that the actions of Governor Otti are a clear example of dictatorship and a disregard for the rule of law.

Or should we say that Otti is afraid of the Deputy Speaker and his influencial political profile in the State? But let's remind the governor that it is not yet time for political campaigns.

We are compelled to say that this is not the best way to go about oppressing the opposition. But we promise to use every platform available to us to ensure the visibility of the work of the President in Abia and the South East.

We call on all well-meaning Abians and Nigerians to condemn this attack on the Renewed Hope Partners and to stand with us in this fight for justice from Governor Otti. We will not be intimidated or silenced, and we will continue to promote the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu, no matter the obstacles. We call on our teeming members not to relent as we will not back down on our support for the President.

We urge Governor Otti to reconsider his actions and to work towards building a better Abia State, rather than resorting to petty politics and vindictiveness.

Signed:

Elton Onwu
Spokesman,
Renewed Hope Partners (RHP)

Despite its significant contribution to Abia State’s economic strength through its oil resources, Ukwa has continued to grapple with poor infrastructure, inadequate social amenities, and limited government attention. Residents argue that decades of promises have not translated into meaningful development, leaving many communities facing challenges that require urgent intervention. The people of Ukwa are calling for fairness, improved representation, and tangible investments in roads, education, healthcare, and other critical sectors.
