APC Renaissance Group Urges Abians to Uphold Good Governance, Demands Transparency and Accountability from Otti Administration.

The attention of the Abia APC Renaissance Group has been drawn to the incoherent outburst by a self-styled group calling itself Abians for Sustenance of Good Governance (ASGG), in which they attempted—albeit unsuccessfully—to vilify the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for speaking truth to power.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored the tantrums of politically displaced sympathizers of a government drowning in its own propaganda. However, it has become necessary to set the records straight for the discerning public.

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s call for transparency and accountability in the management of Abia State’s financial inflows under Governor Alex Otti is both timely and legitimate. It is laughable that a group claiming to promote good governance would suddenly find transparency offensive.

Let it be made clear that Governor Otti’s administration has continued to operate in opacity—without clear disclosures on monthly revenue receipts, expenditures, or debt obligations—despite Abia’s unprecedented allocations courtesy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s fiscal reforms. It is on public record that the state’s revenue has multiplied, yet visible development remains largely cosmetic, confined to propaganda optics and repainted roundabouts.

The Abia APC Renaissance Group finds it hypocritical that ASGG, apparently a rented echo chamber sponsored by the state government, would describe Kalu’s patriotic interventions as “temperamental” or “unstatemanlike.” If calling for accountability is now considered an offence, then governance itself has descended into secrecy.

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s position is clear: he is not inciting anyone but simply demanding transparency from those managing public funds. No responsible leader would fold his arms while his state sinks into financial obscurity under the guise of performance.

We therefore challenge the Otti administration to publish the following:

Monthly revenue allocations from the Federation Account since June 2023.

Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) figures.

Full details of expenditures, ongoing contracts, and procurement processes.

Until these are made public, any attempt to demonize Benjamin Kalu for demanding accountability will only expose the deceptive underbelly of a government that has replaced governance with grandstanding.

The Abia APC Renaissance Group stands firmly with Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, whose courage to speak truth in defence of Abians embodies the true spirit of public service. The days of government by propaganda are over—Abians deserve facts, not fiction.
