Breaking News: Politics- Hon. Aaron Uzodike Defects From PDP To APC In Abia
Hon. Aaron Uzodike, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Aba North State Constituency, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political development in Abia State’s legislative landscape.
Uzodike made the announcement during an Abia APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the residence of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. The meeting attracted party leaders and stakeholders who welcomed the lawmaker into the APC fold.
The lawmaker’s political journey has been shaped by a prolonged legal battle following the 2023 Abia State House of Assembly election. Although he initially lost the Aba North seat to Hon. Destiny Akara, Uzodike later emerged victorious after the Court of Appeal overturned the earlier outcome and declared him the rightful winner.

Despite the favourable court ruling, Uzodike’s swearing-in came several months later, following a series of protests and public agitation.
His eventual assumption of office and subsequent defection are being viewed as a boost for the APC in Abia State, with party supporters expressing optimism about the implications for future political alignments in the state.
