Dozens Defect From PDP To APC In Katsina

The decampees were led by Hon Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, member of the House of Representatives representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency.

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State on Wednesday officially received dozens of decampees into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mashi Local Government Area of the state.

The decampees led by Hon Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, member of the House of Representatives representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency were for a long time card carrying members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) since 2007.

Majigiri, a former chieftain of the PDP, and his supporters were received by Governor Radda alongside Hon. Ya’u Gwajo -Gwajo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters during his statewide appreciation tour of the local government areas.

According to the governor, the tour was designed to assess achievements recorded by his administration in the last two and a half years and to appreciate the support he enjoys from the electorates.

He recalled that his administration has so far touched virtually all sectors of development particularly the education, health, agriculture, security, entrepreneurship and human capital development.

Governor Radda was overwhelmed with the laudable projects executed by various Local Government Councils which he believed was as a result of the funds being released to them.

He charged women and youth to utilize various programs initiated by the government to improve their lives.

Before storming Mashi, the governor had earlier visited Daura, Dutsi and lastly Mani LGAs for the tour.

While in Daura LGA, the governor inaugurated the 14.3-kilometer Daura Western Bypass Road, to promote socio-economic growth, enhance security, and alleviate traffic congestion.

The project marks a significant milestone in the state’s urban renewal initiative.

He launched the project in a brief ceremony attended by the Emir of Daura, traditional rulers, federal and state lawmakers, and community stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, the Governor described Daura as a historically significant town with a global reputation, emphasizing that the new road would promote socio-economic growth, enhance security, and alleviate traffic congestion.
