Ikpeazu Cautions Otti: “Stop Claiming Credit for My Administration’s Projects”
Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has cautioned his successor, Governor Alex Otti, against allegedly taking credit for projects initiated and completed during his administration.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ikpeazu claimed that several infrastructural and developmental projects currently being showcased by the Otti administration as new achievements were actually conceived, funded, or completed under his tenure.
The former governor emphasized that while it is the responsibility of every incoming government to sustain and complete inherited projects, fairness and transparency demand that due recognition be given to preceding administrations.

“I have no problem with Governor Otti completing or commissioning projects started under my watch — that’s continuity. However, it is misleading and unfair to claim ownership of initiatives and programs that were conceptualized, funded, and executed before May 29, 2023,” Ikpeazu stated.
He urged the present administration to focus on delivering fresh developmental initiatives and tackling current socio-economic challenges rather than, as he put it, “repackaging” past achievements for political validation.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Otti’s media team had yet to issue an official response to Ikpeazu’s remarks.
