Ikwechegh Praises Otti’s Leadership, Reinforces Commitment to Labour Party

Politics: Ikwechegh Joins Labour Party, Commends Otti’s Performance

The member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Mr. Alex Ikwechegh, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and declared his allegiance to the Labour Party (LP). He made this known on Tuesday while addressing journalists shortly after meeting with Governor Alex Otti in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, where he also received the Governor’s endorsement and blessings as the party leader in the state.

Ikwechegh revealed that he had officially obtained his Labour Party membership card and deemed it necessary to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Otti in recognition of his leadership role within the party. He explained that the visit symbolized his commitment to the LP and respect for its established leadership structure in Abia State.

Citing his admiration for Governor Otti’s style of governance, the lawmaker described the Governor as a focused and results-driven leader whose performance has brought visible transformation across the state.

He noted that his personal political philosophy aligns closely with that of the Governor, emphasizing that his decision was inspired by the developmental strides and reform-driven agenda currently unfolding in Abia.

Ikwechegh also applauded the national leadership of the Labour Party under Sen. Nenadi Usman and Sen. Darlington Nwokocha, characterizing the LP as a suitable platform for progressive-minded leaders.

He dismissed speculation linking him to the All Progressives Congress (APC), clarifying that his recent encounter with President Bola Tinubu was merely to attend an Iftar gathering. Stressing that politics should be about service rather than personal ambition, he encouraged Nigerians to view public office as an avenue for development and urged interested citizens to register with the Labour Party as it continues to expand its base.
