Gov Udom, Akpabio Welcome Ex-PDP Legal Adviser Enoidem Into APC
Enoidem, who lost to Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the 2023 Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial election, formally joined the APC.
Akwa Ibom State governor Umo Eno and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio have welcomed a former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Enoidem, who lost to Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the 2023 Akwa Ibom North-East senatorial election, formally joined the APC in January 2026.
Prior to his tenure as PDP Legal Adviser, Enoidem served for eight years as a commissioner under Senator Akpabio’s administration when he was Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
During a grand reception held in his honor at the Etim Ekpo Sports Stadium, his hometown, Enoidem urged the current Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, to also bring his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, into the APC.
“Your Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, your job is not yet completed. I have seen your grandfather, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, but I have not seen your godfather, Mr. Udom Emmanuel. I want you to bring him into the fold of the APC,” Enoidem said.

The former PDP Legal Adviser also apologized for what he described as unbecoming statements made against Senator Akpabio during previous political contests, assuring him of the full support of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area for the APC and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
“If in the course of politicking I’ve made any statement about Senator Akpabio that he found unfitting, I apologize. It was not intentional; it was politics… Etim Ekpo people have consciously and deliberately moved into the APC.”
Responding to the defection, Senate President Godswill Akpabio described Enoidem’s move as a unifying development for Abak Federal Constituency and the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Governor Umo Eno commended Enoidem for heeding the “voice of reason” and joining the APC in what he described as the enlightened interest of Akwa Ibom State.

The event drew several political stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, party leaders, as well as traditional and religious leaders.
