Abia Gov. Alex Otti condemns Julius Abure for selling LP forms despite court rulings, deepening the Labour Party crisis over its contested leadership....
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reportedly criticized the leadership of the Labour Party over ongoing internal disputes within the party.
The governor’s remarks were directed at the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, whom he accused of continuing to sell party nomination forms despite court rulings challenging the legitimacy of his leadership.
Otti described the development as unfortunate, warning that such actions were deepening the crisis within the Labour Party at a critical time for political realignment ahead of future elections.
According to him, the continued issuance of forms under a disputed leadership structure risks undermining the credibility of the party and eroding public confidence.
The governor also stressed that court decisions regarding the party’s leadership should be respected, insisting that adherence to the rule of law remains essential for internal democracy.
Supporters of Otti within the party have echoed similar concerns, arguing that the ongoing dispute could weaken the Labour Party’s chances in upcoming elections if not urgently resolved.

However, allies of Abure maintain that his leadership remains valid, insisting that the party’s internal processes and structures support his authority to conduct party activities.
The situation highlights the deepening divisions within the Labour Party, as stakeholders continue to call for reconciliation and a clear resolution to the leadership tussle.
