Rapper Blaqbonez Denies Cyber-harassment Allegations, Says Petition Orchestrated

A legal petition reportedly filed by the solicitors of a woman identified as “Jane Doe” accused the artiste of malicious online conduct.

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, alias Blaqbonez, has denied allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and privacy invasion levelled against him.

A legal petition reportedly filed by the solicitors of a woman identified as “Jane Doe” accused the artiste of malicious online conduct.

The petition, submitted through Bristol & Mortglass C.S., claimed Blaqbonez’s alleged actions followed their client’s rejection of his romantic advances, which they described as “deliberate and malicious actions intended to humiliate and emotionally damage her.”

However, responding to the allegations in an X post on Monday night, the Back In Uni crooner said the claims were part of a sustained campaign of harassment and intimidation by a rival in the music industry.

“Over the past few days, several false and deeply distressing allegations have been circulated online about me. These claims are not only untrue, they are part of a sustained pattern of harassment and intimidation that I have endured for months from specific individuals within the music industry,” he wrote

He stated that he had endured bullying, physical assaults, and online attacks for nearly a year, hoping the truth would eventually prevail.

“For nearly a year, I have stayed silent and endured repeated bullying, physical assaults, and online attacks, believing that the truth would speak for itself. There comes a point when silence allows falsehoods to spread unchecked. So I am speaking now: I have done nothing wrong,” Blaqbonez said.

The rapper noted that the situation stemmed from a past personal relationship that ended amicably but was later entangled with professional rivalries.

“At the heart of these stories lies a personal relationship from my past that ended respectfully and without conflict. That private chapter has now become entangled with professional rivalries in the music industry,” he explained.

He further alleged that the misunderstanding between two adults had been weaponised to damage his reputation and career.

“What began as a personal matter between two adults has been pulled into a broader feud, reshaped and used as ammunition in a campaign to discredit me publicly.

“The accusations being pushed are deliberate fabrications designed to damage my name, work, and everything I’ve built. They have caused pain to my family, my team, and those who support me. It’s disheartening to see people weaponise falsehoods for attention and revenge,” he said.

The 29-year-old confirmed that he was cooperating with authorities and his legal team to address what he called false accusations.

“I’m cooperating fully with the authorities to ensure that the truth is established once and for all. I have nothing to hide, and I welcome transparency.

“I’m also taking steps through my legal team to protect myself against the harassment and defamation I’ve endured over the past year. I’ve worked hard to represent honesty and self-belief in my art. That will not change.

“The truth will come out, and when it does, I hope this moment reminds everyone that false accusations destroy real lives, and that bullying, whether physical, digital, or psychological, must never be tolerated. I won’t allow personal grudges or online hostility to define who I am or distract me from my purpose,” he stated.

The passing of Teddie Beverley at the age of 99 marks the end of an era for one of Britain's most celebrated vocal groups. Alongside her sisters, Babs Beverley and Joy Beverley, she helped define post-war popular music with timeless harmonies and family-friendly performances. While many Gen Z listeners may be unfamiliar with the trio, their influence can still be felt in the success of modern female vocal groups, serving as a reminder that today's music industry is built on the foundations laid by pioneering artists of earlier generations.

Entertainment: Headies 18th Edition To Hold In Toronto

The organisers of the Headies Awards have announced that the 18th edition of Nigeria’s premier music awards will be held in Toronto, Canada, marking another step in the event’s international expansion. Speaking during the unveiling ceremony in Lagos, Headies founder, Ayo Animashaun, revealed that while the main awards ceremony will take place in Toronto, a live watch party and interactive viewing experience will simultaneously be held in Lagos to ensure Nigerian fans remain actively involved. The event will also feature the inaugural Trade and Investment Summit aimed at fostering collaboration between the entertainment industry, investors, businesses, and policymakers. The announcement drew support from stakeholders, including Carlos Rojas-Arbulu, who praised the global influence of Nigerian music and highlighted the growing presence of Afrobeats stars in Canada. Organisers also addressed concerns from the previous edition regarding the shortage of award plaques, attributing the issue to counterfeit products supplied by a new vendor. The Headies previously hosted two consecutive editions in Atlanta before returning to Lagos in 2025, and now aims to further elevate the global reach of Afrobeats through its Toronto edition.
