The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation into a controversial arrest in Ikorodu after a viral video showed an officer forcefully restraining a half-naked bus conductor. The incident, recorded on Saturday, sparked public outrage, with many questioning the officer’s conduct and the circumstances surrounding the arrest. Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said the bus driver had allegedly caused a traffic gridlock by deliberately obstructing the road, prompting officers to intervene. The officer involved has been identified and placed under investigation, while the conductor has been invited to meet with the Commissioner of Police. Authorities said the outcome of the probe will be made public and reminded residents to report any rights violations, even as they warned that resisting lawful arrest remains a criminal offence.
